SWTOR Jedi Guardian Tanking Build

This guide is for the SWTOR Jedi Guardian Tanking Build. You’ll see the most popular as well as most effective build used for tanking with this class.

SWTOR Jedi Guardian Tanking Build

PvE Build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500rMG0uMzZhGrMMhzzM.1

This particular build takes all of the necessary damage reduction, threat generating, and general tanking perk talents. When choosing a build for the SWTOR Jedi Guardian you need to make sure that every single talent point is being put to its best use, and this build truly does that.

Now, let’s take a closer look at these talents and what makes them so good.

SWTOR Jedi Guardian Tanking Build Vigilance Talent Overview

Improved Sundering Strike – This is a fantastic talent for any tank, since you always want to have maximum sunder armor stacks, this allows you to actually apply 2 stacks per use instead of 1. Not only is this great for getting stacks applied even quicker at the start of the fight, but should the stacks ever fall off you can easily re-apply them again.

Protector – Pretty straight-forward talent here and an obvious choice for a tank, the 4% increase to endurance is a must have.

Overhead Slash – This ability isn’t necessarily a ‘tanking’ talent but it does have its place in the SWTOR Jedi Guardian Tanking Build. As you know, tanking isn’t all about having the most Health Points or the best armor, it is also about dealing enough damage to hold threat! And this ability will certainly help as it deals 1935-2157 base weapon damage.

SWTOR Jedi Guardian Tanking Build Defense Talent Overview

Warding Call – Well this is a pretty obvious choice for a tank as well, Warding Call can be activated to reduce all damage taken by 40% for 10 seconds. There’s really no reason to not take this ability as it can be used in so many situations, whether the rest of your group is taking a lot of damage so heals need to focus healing elsewhere, or if you are about to take a huge damage spike.

Guard Stance – This talent will increase your melee and ranged defenses by 6% while in Soresu Form. Obviously any talents that will increase defenses by a % margin are great picks for a SWTOR Jedi Guardian Tanking Build.

Command – Reduces the Cooldown of Challenging Call and Force Push by 15 seconds, these are 2 great abilities that suffer from longer cooldowns, this talent will help alleviate some of that time.

Dust Storm – The last talent we will look at is Dust Storm, this will cause your Force Sweep to lower the accuracy of affected targets by 5% for 18 seconds. This in turn will help you as a tank because whoever you strike with this will end up dealing less damage to you!

SWTOR Jedi Guardian Tanking Build Wrap-Up

That about sums it up for our build guide, you now have the build to implement on your character as well as some detailed information as to why exactly you choose each talent within the build. It is important that you know just why you pick certain talents as just implementing them and not knowing what they are will not allow you to properly utilize them.

SWTOR Jedi Sage Seer or Healing Build

This guide is dedicated to SWTOR Jedi Sage Healing or Seer build. This is one of the most popular and typical healer type builds.

If you are looking for detailed SWTOR guide covering all builds for pvp and fast leveling up then I highly recommend that you check out Aeon Guide by clicking here.

Before we get started with Jedi Sage Healing or Seer Build, let’s also make a note of other two types of builds.

SWTOR Jedi Sage Telekinesis Build – This build is a DPS or Spike Damage striker build with area damage and control abilities. Majority of skills in this one are from Telekinesis tree.

SWTOR Jedi Sage Balanced Build – A more all rounder or balanced type build with self healing and control abilities. It’s a powerful but challenging to play kind of build.

Jedi Sage Healing or Seer Build

PvE Builds: Standard (32/7/2)Offensive Leveling (30/9/2)
PvP Builds: PvP Standard (32/7/2)

The Healing or Seer build is a preventative and control based type of build. It takes almost all important skills from the Seer tree making it highly effective healer and control based character. Note that despite the fact that its a healer build there are a few abilities taken from Telekinesis tree and these are extremely important.

Your healing specialization includes some of the very important and crucial Jedi Sage abilities like Benevolence, Disturbance, Deliverance, Force Armor, Rejuvenate, Restoration, Healing Trance, Salvation and Weaken Mind.

When it comes to gears Willpower will be your primary stat. Other good options are Surge rating, Alacrity, Expertise Rating (PvP).

In this guide, we will look at all the abilities in more detail.

If you are looking for detailed SWTOR guide covering all builds for pvp and fast leveling up then I highly recommend that you check out Aeon Guide by clicking here.

Explanation of Jedi Sage Healing or Seer Build

Benevolence:

Main healing ability when you get started. You might be able to cast about 15 times, but it’s not that much at higher levels.

After you get Deliverance, stop using Benevolence unless you need an urgent heal. After getting force armor, you can literally stop using Benevolence. Later at higher levels when you get Rejuvenate and Conveyance then Benevolence again becomes one of your highly efficient heals.

Note how the way you use your abilities changes at higher levels as you unlock skills one by one.

Disturbance:

It’s an offensive ability that is recommended for leveling. It might not do that great deal of damage but its better than not attacking at all or attacking at point blank range. Use this in Offensive leveling build.

Deliverance:

This one is a slow but yet highly efficient healing abilities. Use this as your primary heal for spamming, especially in PvP. Even if you get interrupted, it won’t lock your other important abilities such as Healing Trance which is very handy when you want to pull off a high speed heal.

Deliverance is a good emergency heal. But this is only true when you get Rejuvenate and Conveyance. Later when you get Healing Trance, Deliverance looses it’s importance as you will start using that for Emergency heals.

If you are looking for detailed SWTOR guide covering all builds for pvp and fast leveling up then I highly recommend that you check out Aeon Guide by clicking here.

Force Armor:

It’s the single fastest big healing skill that Jedi Sages get. Use this to heal tanks. Keep this refreshed every 20 seconds. When you see a damage spike from enemy this can come handy to heal a great amount of health.

Rejuvenate:

Use this for periodic healing. After you get Conveyance, always keep this on cool down just for sake of Conveyance. This skill even improves your armor.

Restoration:

This ability removes two debuffs. It also gives a small amount of heal on whoever you cast on. It’s efficient debuff but a weak healing skill.

Healing Trance:

Use this to channel heal for three seconds where it will heal the recipient every second. It’s even better when used with Conveyance as you get a total of 50% critical with Healing Trance.

Salvation:

This one is your area heal. You can heal all melee or range, or even both. Allows only up to 8 targets and that too whoever is in the circle of heal. Note that the most effective heal is the first way and all the targets must be in the circle for entire duration to receive maximum benefits.

Weaken Mind:

This one’s an important PVP ability. It has very good damage and uses low Force points.

SWTOR Jedi Sage Healing or Seer Build – Gear

Like with other Consulars your main stat is Willpower. Other good options are Critical Strike Rating. Make sure you get your Crit Rate to 20%. What you take after this, is just your choice.

If you are looking for detailed SWTOR guide covering all builds for pvp and fast leveling up then I highly recommend that you check out Aeon Guide by clicking here.

A few good options are Surge Rating for increasing effectiveness of Healing Trance, Rejuvenate and even Salvation.

Another good option is Alacrity for improving effectiveness or speed of Deliverance and Healing.

That’s all on this brief introductory Jedi Sage Healing and Seer builds guide. The next guide in series talks about the Jedi Sage Telekinesis or the DPS build.

SWTOR Jedi Sage Gameplay

Here’s a SWTOR Jedi Sage gameplay PvP video of a Sage at level 50. As you might be probably aware that Sage’s are like priests. They have healing and control abilities. This doesn’t mean you can’t have offensive Sages.

The Jedi Sage gameplay can mainly depend on the kind of build you go for. There are three main builds:

Seer or the Healing build – This build is more focused on building a Sage that has good healing and control abilities. Thus your gameplay will be more of supportive type.

Telekinesis or DPS build – The DPS build or strike build is the offensive version of Sage. It’s also known as Spike Damage Striker build. The main focus of this build is to get the offensive dps and area damage skills as well as control ability.

Balance build – Also known as the Self healing build. This version includes DPS abilities as well as healing and control abilities there by making it an all rounder. However, this is one of the most challenging builds as it has it’s own limitations and it takes a while to master them.

I will post more detailed builds and explain each and every one in detail. Your builds and rotations also vary upon whether you’re in PvP or PvE environments. Even your current level has a great impact on the rotations you will be using.

SWTOR Jedi Sage Builds

This guide is dedicated to SWTOR Jedi Sage builds guide. There are three main types of Jedi Sage builds – Healing or Seer build, Telekinesis or DPS build and lastly balanced builds.

If you are looking for detailed SWTOR guide covering all builds for pvp and fast leveling up then I highly recommend that you check out Aeon Guide by clicking here.

Note that I’ll be going through these and giving you just a brief overview of what each build looks like. We will go in depth in a separate guide dedicated to each of these builds. Let’s look at each one of these Jedi Sage builds one by one.

SWTOR Jedi Sage Builds Guide – Healing or Seer Build

SWTOR Jedi Sage Builds Guide – Telekinesis or DPS build

PvE Builds: Standard (3/31/7)
PvP Builds: PvP Standard (3/31/5)+2

Your priority list for single target in order should be Weaken Mind, Disturbance, Mind Crush, Turbulence, Telekinetic Wave, Telekinetic Throw, Disturbance.

If you are going for area damage then the priority list would have Weaken Mind, Turbulence, Telekinetic Wave, and Force quake as good options.

These are just priority lists. Depending upon whether you are in PvP or PvE and what level you currently are you will select rotations and way you use these abilities.

The PvE build is pretty much a standard one. Critical Hits are your bread and butter all the way. I will write more about when and how to use abilities in PvE in a more detailed guide.

The PvP guide has two left over points that you could invest in Critical Kinesis or Blockout depending on your preference of choice between damage vs control.

As far as gears go, Willpower is your primary stat again. Critical Strike Rating is the secondary. Alacrity is another important one.

SWTOR Jedi Sage Builds Guide – Balance Build

PvE Builds: Sever Force (3/7/31)Hybrid Telekinetics (0/13/28)
PvP Builds: PvP Sever Force (3/7/31)

The priority list for balance Sage builds is Force in Balance, Weaken Mind, Sever Force, Telekinetic Throw, Mind Crush, Telekinetic Wave, Project, Telekinetic Throw.

This build has period damage, it’s a self healer and is highly efficient. I will talk more about the Jedi Sage balance build in a separate guide dedicated just to this topic. That’s all on SWTOR Jedi Sage builds guide.

Aeon Guide Review

Featured

In this Aeon Guide review you will find my thoughts as well as my interview with authors of Aeon guide. I think it has solid potential to become one of the best SWTOR resources out there. It would be a wise idea to get in early.

Aeon Guide Review

I was just about to get started with my own version of SWTOR guide and that’s when I came across a very good one that’s already out there – Aeon Guide. I decided to give it a go to learn more about the concept. I also had an opportunity to talk with the team who has been diligently working on it.

Aeon Guide Review – What’s it all about

SWTOR is a complicated game with 16 advanced classes to choose from. As you level up and switch to these advanced classes at level 10 you are presented with several skills and abilities to choose from. This is where everything starts getting complicated.

Depending upon the selections you make you would either end up with a perfect character or you would slog for hours and hours and end up wasting a lot of credits. Aeon Guide addresses this issue and helps players with step by step tutorial teaching you exactly what to take and when.

With access to perfect abilities and rotations you get to level up extremely fast skipping all the trial and error as well as researching all over the Internet. Aeon guide also talks about what builds or rotations work best in PVP depending on the type of character and gameplay you choose e.g. healing, dps, etc.

Get all this isn’t easy and takes hours of testing, grinding, trial and error. Not to mention the credits you waste while trying out several experiments.

Aeon guide also discusses about equipments, companions, builds for making fast credits, etc. The feature list is really impressive.

Aeon Guide Review – About the authors

One of the most important reasons why I’d put my trust in Aeon guide is the team behind it. The authors of Aeon guide are MMO industry veterans who have been playing games like WOW and Rift for several years now.

They also own their on fansites with a very huge follower base. Only this time for SWTOR they have decided to keep the community small and exclusive.

Aeon Guide Review – Conclusion

In my opinion if you’re looking for a good SWTOR resource or guide to help you through good and bad times with a small and friendly community then Aeon Guide is definitely worth giving a shot. I’m myself a member and I hope I’ll get to see you in there.

SWTOR Leveling Guide

In Star Wars: The Old Republic, you are pretty much required to level up in the game to really get the full experience. Therefore, I’ve compiled this short SWTOR Leveling Guide for your use.

There are two main ways to level your character in SWTOR, the first is pure grinding, this entails killing enemy mobs over and over again in a small area until you’ve leveled enough to move to the next area and kill different mobs over and over. This is a very boring, yet somewhat effective way to level your character in SWTOR, however, I recommend the second option.

The second option I will discuss in this SWTOR Leveling Guide is questing, this is a very common form of leveling in any MMORPG and typically the fastest and most enjoyable. This is even more relevant in SWTOR because of the in-depth storyline and quest chains that are available.

Why quest instead of grind you may ask? For one, the quests will give you bonus XP and often require you to go kill a certain amount of mobs to complete the request and then return and receive your bonus XP. Now, grinding mobs does have its perks, as you are able to stay in one area for an extended amount of time and sort of multi-task and watch TV or movies while grinding, whereas questing requires a bit more focus.

In the long run you will become extremely tired of just grinding in SWTOR so leveling is a lot more enjoyable if you follow the quest-lines and heres why: They keep you interested with voice acting, storylines, extra rewards including credits, XP, and cool items.

When it all comes down to it I highly recommend questing for my SWTOR Leveling Guide, but it is entirely up to you and how you feel about either of them. I will be sure to update this SWTOR Leveling Guide with more information as it is released.

SWTOR Strategy Guide

It’s no secret that Star Wars: The Old Republic was one of the most anticipated games out there, as well as just one of the most overall popular games right now. And as with any game not everyone has time to study the information necessary to be at the top of his or her game, therefore I’ve compiled this short SWTOR Strategy guide with a few tips that you should know.

Choosing Your Class

The first choice you’re presented with in an MMORPG is creating your character, this includes choosing a race, faction, and class. The most important and game-changing of these aspects is definitely the class, of course you have the racial bonuses and abilities as well as certain factions being a little stronger depending on the server, but these don’t really compare to how much your class effects you.

The first question you should ask yourself when choosing your class is what role you want to play, because there are certain classes that are much more damage oriented then others, whereas some are focused on tanking or healing.

Also you have the option of going with a more utility role where you can go either tanking, healing, or damage, but usually these classes are lacking what other classes have as far as their main role.

To Grind, Or Not To Grind

Many people are faced with this question while playing an MMORPG, and frankly it’s pretty tough to call usually as far as which one will level you faster. However, the strategy I recommend for SWTOR is definitely doing quests and following the storyline.

Reason being that the SWTOR storyline is pretty epic and keeps you interested all the way, also, you unlock some pretty sweet stuff if you follow along. On top of that it just goes by a lot faster if you aren’t sitting in one area grinding over and over, this may or may not be faster xp but it is guaranteed to make the time go by very slowly.

What is the difference between PvE and PvP, and what are they?

These two things are found in any online game, PvE is Player vs Environment and PvP is Player vs Player. Players tend to focus a lot on one or the other, although it is perfectly fine to find a happy medium in both.

I personally tend to focus a little more on the PvE but I’ll do my fair share of PvP as well, but you will find just as hardcore of players doing either of these.

SWTOR Planets

A very unique aspect to Star Wars: The Old Republic is the map system, in SWTOR you have Planets as opposed to continents/countries/”zones”. At first glance you may think that SWTOR Planets are very large and confusing and just make the game too complex for something you want to relax and play, that isn’t the case, the planets are quite easy to navigate to and it isn’t too much different then most games.

In total there are 17 SWTOR Planets, some big, some small, but they are all sure to differentiate from each other. You will be traveling back and forth between planets to continue on with your storyline

Tython

The SWTOR Planet Tython is home of the Jedi. Very interesting about Tython is that a larger section of it is undiscovered with an unknown darkness.

Korriban

Korriban is basically Tython to the Sith. What I mean by this is just as the Jedi call Tython Home, the sith call Korriban home.

Coruscant

The SWTOR Planet Coruscant is the Republic’s capital, additionally, it houses both the senate and the chancellor.

Alderaan

This is a neutral planet that is being fought for between the Empire and the Republic.

Tatooine

Tatooine is a desert planet, anyone who is a fan of the star wars movies should be familiar with this planet.

Hutta

The Hutt cartels operation is stationed in the SWTOR Planet, Hutta.

Ord Mantell

The SWTOR Planet Ord Mantell is actually a colony ran by the Galactic Republic and is currently under a civil war for independence.

Balmorra

This is an interesting planted, it was actually once in control by the Republic but was taken over by the Sith. This is a very cool planet full of PvP battles.

Dromund Kass

The SWTOR Planet Dromund Kass is where the emperor and the dark council are stationed, similar to Coruscant for the Republic.

Taris

Wasteland planet due to the Sith destroying everything on it, however, the Republic are making a strive to re-colonize the planet.

Belsavis

Belsavis is an SWTOR Planet that is basically a prison used for the Galactic Republic.

Hoth

Hoth is a very PvP oriented planet with an icy terrain. Very cool looking planet and a lot of fun to battle opponents here.

Voss

The planet voss is also where the voss race was originated, currently this planet is being fought for by the empire and the republic with hopes to gain an Alliance with the voss race.

Nars Shadaa

Crime and cartels run this planet, although technically it is a moon and technically under the Hutts authority.

Corellia

Formally known as a Republic planet, however, it has been corrupted by the Empire via the leaders.

Ilum
The SWTOR Planet Ilum is known for being the origin of the lightsaber.

Quesh

Republic planet under constant invasion by the Imperial forces.

SWTOR Controls

The controls for SWTOR are pretty standard, you will be using WASD to move your character around as well as your mouse. However, you should keep in mind that you are able to switch your key bindings around and I highly encourage players to find a comfortable way to move around.

Tip: I always make my A and D keys strafe left and right, this allows me to hold right click with the mouse and strafe easier and quickly turn 180 degrees in no time.

0-= are your default action bar keys, i recommend only using 1-5 and adding other keybinds for your abilities such as Shift + 1 or Z or X or Shift + Z or Alt + X, this makes it very easy to use all of your abilites while keeping just one hand at one spot of the keyboard and the other on your mouse.

Other various controls are:

P – Ability List

M – Map

L – Quest Journal

X – Crouch

C – Character Screen

B – Inventory

To open up the chat box to begin talking and communication you can press Enter, and to jump press Spacebar.

SWTOR Races

In addition to having a large arsenal of SWTOR Classes, there are also quite a few SWTOR Races to choose from when creating your character. In total there are eight different SWTOR races to choose from, and each of them differentiates in their own way.

If you are looking for detailed SWTOR guide covering all builds for pvp and fast leveling up then I highly recommend that you check out Aeon Guide by clicking here.

Chiss – The Chiss species is a mystery to most of the galaxy, they are classified as blue skinned humanoids. They had developed socially and technologically in isolation until discovered by the Sith Empire.

Human – Humans are known for their versatility and how they are able to share relationships with other humans as well as non-humans.

Miraluka – The Miraluka species had lived primarily in isolation but had strong ties with the Jedi due to their high force sensitivity.

Mirilian – One of the most mystical species, as well as one of the most wise are the Mirilian. They are green-skinned and known for their natural agility as well as symbolic facial tattoos.

Rattataki – These pale skinned species are very battle oriented, they are used to constant warfare and survival of the fittest. They believe in doing all they can do be the best, they are very proud and passionate about combat and are very deadly.

Sith Pureblood – The Sith Pureblood is the original sith species, they are red skinned, very competitive as well as ambitious.

Twi’lek – Twi’lek’s are often referred to as slaves and criminals and generally looked down upon. They are actually quite quick and cunning, and show great promise in cognitive and physical ability.

Zabrak – The Zabrak species are very confident and independant, they are almost fearless and never back down to a challenge no matter how slim the odds are.

SWTOR Races Conclusion

Now you have a pretty general idea of how each race came to be and how you will be portrayed if you choose them. Out of the eight SWTOR Races you will find some similarities, but all of them are very, very different.
